Hunting the many Mule Deer at the Solitude is an experience that you have to try at least 6 times in your life. We offer the best of both
worlds when it comes to hunting our Mule
Deer. Try your luck at spot and stalk, which is highly successful here, or hunt them out of a tree-stand or ground blind. Our Mule Deer like to bed along the
red rock lined canyons that offer them the perfect cool place to hang out during the heat of the day. This gives any dedicated spot and stalk hunter, a huge advantage, by simply slipping along the top, and peaking over the edge, only to find an unsuspecting Mule Deer buck bedded below. We’ve had several hunters take advantage of this opportunity in between their morning, and evening treestand set-up.
The way the canyons are laid out makes it very easy to set a blind, or stand in a funnel that is primarily made up of one of only a few trails that allow the deer to enter or exit the Alfalfa fields/Food Plots that set above the Canyons. Although you may find yourself playing musical stands, trying to predict which trail they’ll use this time, eventually you’ll catch up with them and bag your trophy

The terrain along these canyons consist of vertical rock walls that lead down to a series of cool shady benches that are ideal for Mule
Deer or Whitetails to bed. Lined with Ponderosa Pine trees and pockets of Burr Oak, makes this habitat the preferred place to be by the game that calls Northeast Wyoming their home. Come daylight or dusk the trails that lead in and out of the canyons become like highways for the game. If you take every precaution with your scent and play the wind right, you’ll have great success.
The early September season allows hunters to take advantage of the bachelor groups of bucks that tend to stay together all day. In fact in most cases the buck’s bed away from the doe’s, which makes stalking even more successful. Later in November, and into December the
bucks are on the chase and this is the time you can see that truly magnificent trophy of a lifetime. Again, having the Black Hills as a somewhat Sanctuary, due to it’s thick
pines, and vast hills, makes the possibilities of seeing a giant
Wyoming Mule Deer credible.
Your hunt will begin when you check in at the rustic looking Hulett Motel, where you will take care of any paper work, tags, and meet up with your guide. Our guides will be available to go over property boundaries, hunt strategies, tree-stand set up, blind set up, pick up and drop off at hunting locations, and will lend a hand in field dressing. Your trophy will age nicely in our walk-in cooler and walk-in freezer. All hunters will be responsible for game care, and meat processing, as well as taxidermy. MULE DEER HUNTING DATES & RATES:

HOW WE HUNT:
All hunts are
semi-guided, meaning we will take you out show you all the
ranch boundaries, give you all the knowledge we have
learned on the animals, their travel patterns, feeding
areas, waterholes, bedding areas and roost trees etc. We
will then show you how and where we believe you should set
up, but the ultimate decision on how and what to do will
be yours. Once you decide on how you want to set up we
will give you the help necessary to accomplish this. We
travel our 30,000 acres using 4wd vehicles, ATVs and on
foot. We hunt from blinds, tree stands or you can spot and
stalk or still hunt, again the choice is yours. |
