Wow! What a hunt, In the fall of 2006 my dreams came true. I had joined Mike Schmid for a hunt of a life time at the Solitude Ranch in Northeast Wyoming. Along with me for the ride was my long time hunting partner, my Dad Fred, and my newest hunting partners, daughter Lyndsie and son William. We were all very excited and only expected the best from Mike’s Solitude ranch. The BEST is what we got. From the some of the most beautiful country, to the best accommodations Mike and Pam Schmid will not disappoint.
It began with my Daughters first ever whitetail. We had many opportunities at some great whitetails along with a miss on a buck that went over 150 B&C. But she scored on a nice buck at the age of only 13. The very next day, my Dad also scored on a nice buck with my daughter along with him.
My bruiser came the following day. With my son at my side the whole day( which never got above 15°). After a full day of hiking, glassing, and being soaking wet from belly crawling in the snow I spotted the buck just before dark. The big Whitetail, along with 12 does, were moving out of the low lying draws of scrub oak to higher feeding grounds. My son, William, and I hurried to get into position to a make a perfect shot. I am very proud of my beautiful Whitetail buck and my son for sticking it out. Thanks Mike for the great hunt!
